If you want to enable chapters for your videos, do this:
Sign in to YouTube and navigate to the video you want to edit.
Select EDIT VIDEO under the video.
In the “Description” box of the “Add details” page, add a full list of timestamps & titles.
That’s all there is to it.
YouTube chapters are a relatively new feature rolled out not long ago that enable you to give your viewers a better experience.
They are similar to timestamps that have been around for a while.
But chapters appear in the actual video and still not fully utilized by most marketers.
What exactly are YouTube chapters?
Not everyone has enough time to sit down and watch long videos on YouTube.
They may want to only see specific topics that you raise within that long video.
A recent addition to YouTube has been the ability to add what are called YouTube chapters.
Done right, these add a kind of progress bar to your video that is broken up into sections.
A viewer can click on any of these sections and immediately jump to that part of the video.

How to set up YouTube Chapters
To turn on chapters for your video:
- Login to your YouTube account
- Select the video you want to edit.
- Choose EDIT VIDEO
- In the description, add a list of timestamps and titles.
It’s imperative that the first timestamp begins with 00:00.
Add to that you must have at least three timestamps listed in ascending order.
The video needs to be 10 seconds or longer but I am sure that no one will have a shorter video.
Summary
The whole point of these chapters is to allow viewers to focus on the bits of the video they want to watch.
A happier viewer will be more likely to take the actions you want.
Add to that it’s always a good idea to take advantage of new additions if you are a serious video marketer (or want to become one).
