What is an Audience?
An audience is simply a group of people who know, like and trust you.
The thing is people either do not know how to build one, or are in a hurry and end up destroying an audience they are in the process of building.
Many years ago, I learnt the hard by buying Solo ads and trying to get a sale by pounding my subscriber’s inbox with offers.
And while it was super easy to build a list, getting them to buy was not.
Of course, the vendors blame the buyer but at the end of the day, the leads you get are on tons of lists and not really interested in what you have to offer due to the intent (or lack of it) when they opted in.
So I decided a different way after studying some great email marketers.
That was to:
- Be yourself
- Do not try to please everyone
- Become great at one thing
- Build an audience, not a list
And over time, things changed.
