Whenever anybody runs paid ads for the first time, they generally have a home run mentality.
And when they don’t get instant results, they want to give up, and quit, and say it doesn’t work.
But the trouble is most people can’t read the data and then make decisions based off of that.
This post will put that to bed and walk you through how to optimize youtube ads.
How to optimize youtube ads for beginners
So, the first thing you need to make sure is that your ads have been running for two or three days.
Don’t be tempted to come in really quickly and make changes because you need to give it time first and foremost.
Now, if you’ve done that, what next?
Problem: No or Little Traffic
You’re getting low views, low impressions, maybe no views, no impressions. probably it’s due to a targeting issue or a campaign problem of itself.
You want to make sure that you’re using either cost per view or maximize conversions when it comes to how your campaign is set up.
If you’re not, that could be a problem.
If you’ve got a brand new account, and you’re using target CPA or something different, Google doesn’t have any information to go off of.
So you want to make sure that you switched to either CPV or maximize conversions.
Other changes that you can make is broaden your audience.
So if you’re targeting keywords, add more keywords.
If you’re targeting placements, add more placements.
So you want to get more people to see your ads.
Maybe you’ve just gone too narrow.
Maybe your demographic targeting is just too granular, so expand that.
And another thing that you can do is to increase your bid.
So if you’re bidding, for example, 10 cents per view, then double that to 20 cents.
If you’re bidding 20 cents, double it’s a 40 cents because YouTube ads are an auction and you want to make sure that you are bidding a decent amount.
Problem: Poor Click Through Rate
They’re not taking your call to action.
So what’s the problem?
Generally speaking, that’s due to your video.
So you want to look at your call to action, your hook, the quality of your video.
Maybe you need to make a new video, re-upload it, but have a stronger earlier call to action.
Problem: Poor Conversion Rate
Another problem could be you’re getting a low conversion rate.
So people are clicking, but they’re not opting in.
They’re not registering for a webinar or whatever it is you’re trying to do.
Again, it could be a variety of different problems.
Maybe your landing page isn’t good quality.
Maybe it takes too long to load.
\Maybe there’s a disconnect between your call to action and the verbiage of your actual landing page, who knows?
Check that your CTA of the video matches the headline of your video.
And again, if the video is high quality and the landing page isn’t, there’s a problem, and vice versa.
So, we’re going to hop on over now into Google Ads slash YouTube Ads interface, and I’ll show you how to make some of these changes
