YouTube channel growth is a funny old beast.
On the one hand, subscribers and viewers are just vanity metrics.
They can be manipulated and are not guarantee of monetary reward.
A classic example of vanity metrics not translating to sales could be seen on Instagram when an influencer with over 2 million followers could not sell 26 T-shirts.
On the other hand, the more real subscribers you have, the more people see your content and the more potential leads and sales you get.

Regardless, we should all focus on building up our views and subscriber base.
And while most of you will have heard of the search and suggested algorithms, there is another lesser known one.
YouTube Channel Authority -What is it?
When we speak about channel authority, we mean the entire power of your channel, not simply one video in particular.

The following criteria come under the heading of channel authority:
- Views on Channels – What is the total number of views on your channel?
Are you a constant content creator, or are you a person who dabbles with one or two videos before giving up or taking a hiatus?
Put yourself in the position of YouTube while considering channel authority.
Are you going to show some new guy’s video before theirs if you’ve had a long, successful connection with them and they’ve given you thousands of visits and money?
Certainly not.
Why Is This Relevant Here?
Let me explain why channel authority is so important.
I can post the identical video to two channels with high authority, and it will rank highly, as I expected.
But the exact same channel on a brand new channel will struggle to get traction and be so far down the rankings, it’s not funny.
So you MUST be consistent with all this and not expect immediate results.
So many people have been conditioned that you can make money overnight that when they do not , they think they have been tricked.
This takes time and if you cannot accept that, the problem is maybe with your mindset.
If you start a brand new channel, aim for 20 videos posted, 50 subscribers, and 1,000 channel views at a bare minimum before you expect any traction.
Once you reach such numbers, life will be a bit easier.
YouTube Channel Growth Strategy
A while back I got a message to my support desk from a member of Video Marketing Insider.

One of the videos on his channel had got a LOT more views than normal and had greatly increased his subscriber base.
He was not sure how this was happening.
On investigation into his analytics, I noticed that the views were not coming from search but from a place I had not paid much attention to.
So I decide to plan out an experiment.
And my own videos, some of which were not performing great:

And began performing like this:

After doing this new technique for about 10 videos I saw some big changes in my own channel.
Views, watch time, subscribers were all up.

I had been wondering if these new ways of doing things worked.
And they did!
I was making videos that my audience wanted rather than ones I thought were of value.
And that is the key.
We can find out what our audience really wants in two ways:
YouTube Analytics
The data inside out own analytics has invaluable insights into what is working and what is not.
While the information is there for free, I also love MorningFame to get a clearer picture.
They present the data beautifully in a way that anyone can grasp

Deep Dive
This involves looking at our bigger rivals.
We piggyback off their hard work and siphon clicks, views and subscribers from them.
This is shown inside the VidTrendz training course.
So What is VidTrendz?
In short, it is related to trending videos but not in the normal sense.
By trending I do not mean things in the news now, or topics that you’ll find by going to Google trends.
These are channel specific.
Luckily, I have a software that helps out with all of this stuff.
